Live In Relationships

Maharashtra Government has recently passed a resolution legalising  live in relationships.

A discussion at youth on this was triggered by David's animated views on it.  There were disagreements and agreements.

What is your say on it?

1 corinthians chapter 5 vs 9-13

1 Corinthians chapter 5 vs 9-12

9 I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people;

10 I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world.

11But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler--not even to eat with such a one.

12For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church?

13But those who are outside, God judges. Remove the wicked man from among yourselves

We discussed this passage at youth this saturday. What is Paul trying to communicate to the church of corinthians through this passage and how does this passage apply to us today?

A discussion followed on judging others. This is a sensitive area and we need to approach it with caution and wisdom. We need God to give us the wisdom to discern.

Questions to ponder
1) How do you relaate with the outside world which is filled with immoral people?
2) How do you relate/approach people in church whom you know are upto these things?

PERSECUTION AND US

Your house is set on fire because it had a portrait of Jesus on it's wall ....

An angry mob with flaming torches and swords surround you; A knife is placed at your throat and you hear this, " renounce your faith, else you die"....

You may have not faced a situation like this in your life, but Christians being persecuted for their faith is true and real

PERSECUTION: this is what we pondered over at youth today. we read snippets of persecution happening to Christians the world over and discussed it.

We then focused on what's happening in Orissa - The sudden inflammation of open persecution of Christians, leaving many injured, dead and homeless. ( for more news on it... http://thepersecutiontimes.com/)

We may not have been persecuted so far and we still have the freedom to share the good news, but the time is running out. The Bible asks us to expect and accept persecution.

We prayed for (and keep praying) for these points
  • Thank God for the safety, security and the freedom that we have to share the gospel.
  • To proclaim the Good news boldly and earnestly
  • For our friends and people in church who are going through a hard time because of their faith
  • For Christians in Orissa and the World over who are being persecuted.

Questions to ponder
  1. How should we, as a Christian community, should react to communal violence targeted towards Christians, as seen in Orissa?
  2. Is the christian community being silent when communal violence erupt against other minorities? ( where were we during the Godhra violence?)
  3. Am I doing enough to share the Good news while i still have the freedom to do so?

LEGO and us

Last week we talked about LEGO and how each piece fits beautifully with another ... are we also made like that? Do we also have knobs and quirks which may work well together with someone else? Maybe some of us who have a strange sense of humour need other people with a strange sense of humour to laugh at our jokes! :-)

So, are we made to be built together? Is that our purpose? If so, what are we building? What is God creating using us?

PLEASE COMMENT BELOW! :-) Lets see what you have to say!
